Turns out Toshiba is using a different costumer service/repair service than when I first bought my laptop. They said I had to send it in with the hard drive (which will be formatted) even though it’s completely a video card issue. Goodbye 20 gigs of rare, lossless, perfectly reserved, and hard to find Daft Punk albums, bootlegs and singles!

And in below average quality, too. There’s something nostalgic about the feeling you’re watching it on TV or on a tape. I still have a tape-to-digital transfer of Puma Man were the cable feed cuts out during the movie’s climax and when it happens, I get that nostalgic comfort of simpler times when I felt like this show was made just for me and I was the only one watching it.

Christopher Hitchens dead at age 62 →
Whether you’re a liberal, conservative, theist or atheist, I hope we can all agree that we just lost a brilliant man. What a horrible, horrible year.

logandavis: BALE-WATCH In China on Thursday, Batman himself, Christian Bale, went through a real-life version of a scene from “The Dark Knight” where Batman miraculously escapes from authorities in Hong Kong. CNN reports that “The Dark Knight Rises” star was on his way to Dongshigu Village in eastern China with a crew from CNN to meet with Chen Guangcheng, a blind civil rights activist in the...

Just a friendly reminder
I know you may have already forgotten, but if the word “terror” is ever attached to your name you can now be detained indefinitely and without trial.

ronworkman: It worries me that for the last few weeks people were enraged over the National Defense Authorization Act and did everything to attempt to shut it down, speculated that Obama would veto it, then he doesn’t, it passes, and people are not really discussing it. This went around Tumblr non-stop for weeks. Am I missing something major here? Why are you worried? Raising awareness, not...

I think we should have them on our chest, so that we don’t go anywhere which out hearts can’t follow. that is really really gay If OP wants to be a mutant freak with giant tendrils coming out of their chest they can go...

“AAAAAGH! YOU HAVE ERECTED A TERRIFYING MONUMENT TO THE NIGHTMARES OF 9/11!!!”
–   A Gawker editor actually wrote this and was quoting a non-existent person. Think about that. The first line of his story was a fictional quote. Imagine if a newspaper had an editor create fictional quotes on a front page story.  (via ronworkman)

I just got a XBOX SOCIAL EXPERIENCE BEACON NOTICE
…that someone wants to play Skyrim. Skyrim is a one-player game. This is easily one of the more annoying features of this update. Then again, I have yet to find something likable about it.

I’m trying to use this cancer called “Facebook” on this lumpy breast called “The XBox 360.” I feel like I should pin a pink ribbon to my junk and run marathons for this garbage.

The number of button presses needed to join a party went from one to four using the dashboard and, from as far as I can tell, remains 3 from the Guide button. A very stupid idea for an update that claims to improve the social aspect of the experience.  On the main “social” page of the dashboard it displays 3 friends and only 3 friends that are, I assume, playing games I can join. The...

It was an examination of every single Internet hoax or trend predicated on a false premise, not a personal attack. We’re all guilty of buying into something not true. What I didn’t expect on my dashboard was the amount of people taking that post personally (which is telling). I got to see peoples denial period first hand. But I believe what set some people off was my addition of...
